Short sea and deep sea shipping
Shortsea shipping is regarded as the alternative of road haulage within Europe. Cargo is moved by sea, between ports situated in Europe or ports on the coast lines of the enclosed seas bordering Europe. It includes maritime transport both domestic and international, including feeder services, and is highly stimulated by the European Union for its ecological advantages over road haulage. Short sea shipping is in fact currently outgrowing road haulage. From the Netherlands about 200 ports can be served. Broekman Groups Automotive Division uses shortsea shipping a.o. for the transport of containers and RoRo cargo

Deepsea shipping concerns overseas shipping activities.
